The BluzNdaBlood Show #182, “Back on Beale, 2014!”

Welcome back everybody to another BluzNdaBlood show! This is show 182 and it’s a pleasure to be back with you! It’s time once again for our traditional “Back on Beale!” Just got back from Memphis from the International Blues Challenge and boy did I have a blast!

We started off the show with the great Mr. Sipp.  That was his song called “Hey Hey Hey Hey” from his CD titled It’s My GuitarMr Sipp is also know as Cat Cole.  He was the winner of this year’s band category.  He was sent to the competition by Vicksburg Blues Society in Mississippi.

Who else is on our Back on Beale line up?

Well we’ve got Mark May Band, Brad Absher and the Swamp Royale, The Pitbull of Blues Band, Herbie D and the Dangermen, In Layman Terms, Anthony Rosano and The Conqueros, John del Toro & Sean Carney, Ghost Town Blues Band, Low Society, Candye Kane, and Jimmy Pritchard.

So you ready to hear some outstanding blues from me being Back on Beale?  I hope so. Crank it up my friends and we’re off and running!

The first full song set starts off with ……

The Mark May Band with “I Got To Know” from their brand new CD called Release My Soul.   Mark was sent to the competition by The Cleveland Blues Society of Ohio.    Following Mark ….

Brad Absher and the Swamp Royale.  That was”Memphis On The Way” from their brand new CD called Gulf Coast Soul. They made it to the finals in the competition!  They were sent to Memphis by The Houston Blues Society.

The Pitbull of Blues Band   “Going to Tennessee. A.K.A 61”  CD titled Unleashed. They were sent to the competition by The Southwest Florida Blues Society. Well I LOVED that first set of Back on Beale street show!

NEXT UP is an entire set of songs from Virginia Bands that were in the competition.  We start off with

Herbie D and The Dangermen with  “Route 32”  on a CD titled Mary4Music Presents: Keeping the Blues Alive, Vol 4.   They were sent to competition by The River City Blues Society in Richmond, Virginia. Following Herbie….

In Layman Terms  with “Don’t Even Try”  on their CD titled Memphis or Bust (digital purchase on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Rhapsody, Napster) They were sent to competition by The River City Blues Society in Richmond, Virginia for the youth show case. Cole Layman age 16 and his sister Logan Layman 13. Boy, they are incredible. 

Anthony Rosano and The Conqueros  with “Maureen”  on their CD titled Live@TEGU   They were sent to competition by The Blue Ridge Blues Society in Roanoke, Virginia.

Our third set begins with ……

John Del Toro & Sean Carney with “Lookin’ For My Baby” on their new CD titled Drivin Me Wild Following them …..

Ghost Town Blues Band  with “Memphis Train” on their Dark Horse CD. They were sent to competition by The Memphis Blues Society.

Low Society  with “Dead Mans Shoes” on their High Time CD. They were sent to competition by The Buffalo River Blues Society.

Our final set begins with the lovely and talented Ms……

Candye Kane featuring Laura Chavis with “Au Revoir Y’all”  on her new CD titled Coming out Swingin’ available mid June. Find Candye’s music on CD Baby Music Store.  Following Candye…

Jimmy Pritchard  with “Thank You for Giving Me The Blues” on his new CD titled Shoppin’ for the Blues. They were sent to competition by The Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation.

The BluzNdaBlood Show, “Back In Business, Part 2”!

 

Welcome back, everybody! It’s time for another BluzNdaBlood Show! This is your missing in action blues DJ  Dave Harrison coming at you from the River City of Virginia… Well, this show is gonna be a great one! This show continues with the theme of the last show, it’s “Back in Business, Part 2!”

Well, I started off the show with Shawn Holt and The Teardrops with their tune “Down In Virginia” off their brand new Blind Pig Records CD called Daddy Told Me.

On the full set, you’ll hear two songs from Albert Castiglia, “Lovin Cup” and Call Me When You Need Me” off his Blues Leaf Records CD Living the Dream.

Then a little blues/funk meets hip-hop with the Billy Jones Bluez playing “The Iceman” and “I’m A Bluesman” from his American Blues Recording Company CD, I’m A Bluesman.

Next up, our Women in Blues set stars the one and only Candye Kane with two great songs off her newest CD, Coming Out Swingin’! We hear the title track, “Coming Out Swingin'” and “Au Revoir Y’all”. This CD is out on Candye’s own label, Sister Cynic! Also with the Vizztone Music Label Group.

Well, the great Northern Virginia roots guitar player starts off our next set! It’s Tom Principato playing “Robert Johnson Told Me So” and “Knockin’ On The Door” from his newest Powerhouse Records CD, Robert Johnson Told Me So.

Steve Guyger ends this set with two songs off his Severn Records CD, Blues Radio. We’re treated to “Blues Won’t Let Me Be” and “I’m Shakin'”.
And we end up the show with two more songs from Shawn Holt and The Teardrops! It’s “Fannie Mae” and “little By Little”…

Welcome back, my friends! This is Dave Harrison coming at you once again from the blues filled studio in the Star City of Virginia… I’ve got a very special show for you today!

Well, we started off the show with “Superhero”, the title track of the brand new Delta Groove Music CD from the beautiful blues goddess, Candye Kane!
