The BluzNdaBlood Show #179, New Blues For A New Year!

Welcome back, everybody and Happy New Year! It’s time for our traditional New Blues for a New Year show! We’re going to highlight a lot of the new blues CDs I’ve received lately in the blues filled studio down here in the River City of Virginia

We started off the show with the great Charlie Musselwhite.  That was his song called “Blues, Why Do You Worry Me”.  Buy his brand new CD called Juke Joint Chapel.

Who else is on our line up for providing you with some great blues for this new year?

Well we’ve got Chris James and Patrick Rynn, David Egan, Dan Bubien, Hard Garden, Jack Mack & The Heart Attack Horns, Detroit Memphis Experience, The CD Woodbury Band, Back Pack Jones, The Welsh T Band, The Harlis Sweetwater Band, Deb Ryder, Tinsley Ellis, and following up with the original honey dripper himself, Roosevelt Sykes.

So you ready to hear some new blues for a new year?  I hope so. Crank it up my friends and we’re off and running!

OK, well that first full four song set started off with Chris James and Patrick Rynn.  “Just Another Kick in the Teeth” is from their brand new CD called Barrel House Stomp.   David Maxwell and Eddie Shaw help out on that song.

Following Chris and Patrick we heard David Egan with his song called “Dance the Blues with Me.”  That’s off his brand new Rhonda Sue Records CD called self titled David Egan.

We followed up with Dan Bubien that was his song called “Exiled Blues” that’s off his brand new CD called Empty Roads. The set ends with “Depot Blues” a song from Hard Garden.  That’s off their brand new CD called Blue Yonder .

Obviously by now you’ve realized that this New Blues for a New Year show has lots of different styles of blues music.  I really wanted to mix it up a bit, so talk about mixing it up….lets start it up with a great tight band I just learned about from my buddy Steve…..from Superstar Records here’s Jack Mack & The Heart Attack Horns.

OK, well our second full four song set started off with Jack Mack & The Heart Attack Horns with “Lookin’ Up” off of the CD of the same name. You can purchase CD the Lookin’ Up! from iTunes.

Following Jack Mack was Detroit Memphis Experience with their song called “Green Light.”  That’s off their brand new CD called self titled Detroit Memphis Experience.

And following that was The CD Woodbury Band and their song called “Ring-a-Ding”  off of their brand new CD called Monday Night Wrapping up that set with Back Pack Jones and “Riptide Baby.”  That’s off their brand new CD called Betsy’s Kitchen.

Starting off the next set is The Welsh T Band with their tune “April Fool Blues” off their new CD Where the Road Leads.  Following The Welsh T Band is Harlis Sweetwater Band with their tune “Mistreater Blues” from their CD Lights Goin’ Down. Next was Deb Ryder with her song “Get a Grip” from the Just Might Get Lucky CD.   Following Deb is Tinsley Ellis with his tune “Berry Tossin'” from the Get It CD.

And rounding out the show is Roosevelt Sykes with “Dirty Mother For You” from The Original Honeydripper CD.

Well, you know the routine! Now that you’ve heard this great music, go out and by the music! Or better yet go out and see them live! Then buy their music and tell them you heard their music on The BluzNdaBlood Show, your first stop for the best of the blues!

Enjoy the show and keep in touch! Friend me on Facebook, check out my YouTube channel, and follow me on Twitter! Or better yet, e-mail me at dave@bluzndablood.com.
